Teeth Whitening
Enlighten Evolution Whitening (Combination)
Deep Bleaching works by increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen, which breaks down stain molecules. It is a combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit at the dentist.
Teeth are stained by the foods and drinks we consume. Smoking further stains teeth and the natural bright, white shade becomes darkened. Teeth whitening is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth. The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from patient to patient and with the type of bleaching process chosen.
Enlighten Whitening
A custom made mouth tray is created. A whitening gel is placed in the tray which you then wear whilst asleep or for short periods during the day. After the 2 week course of treatment, you will return to the practice to have a final in house whitening session.
Results are normally seen over 2 weeks.
The beauty of Enlighten whitening is that once you get your whitening trays you have them for life. This means that should you wish to whiten your teeth again, you can and only have to purchase the whitening gels next time around. Whitening gels are available for purchase to top up as and when required throughout the year.
Frequently asked questions:
Q. How white will my teeth get?
A. Enlighten Whitening can whiten teeth up to 16 shades brighter. Results do vary, but if used correctly teeth will whiten dramatically.
Q. Will my teeth look too white?
A. No, natural teeth rarely look too white. The beauty of the tray system, is that it puts the patient in control. It’s a gradual build up over 2 weeks, giving the patient the opportunity to stop sooner if they reach a shade they are happy with.
Q. Will my crowns, veneers and fillings change colour?
A. No, Enlighten Whitening will only brighten the shade of natural teeth. Any teeth that are crowned, veneered or filled may require replacement when whitening is complete to shade match the rest of your natural teeth.
Q. Is there pain or discomfort?
A. The most common complaint of tooth whitening is sensitivity. With Enlighten Whitening we give you a tooth serum to brush your teeth with 2 weeks prior to starting the whitening process, this helps with the complaint of sensitivity. In your whitening kit you are also provided with desensitising swabs, which will help give instant relief, should you require.
Q. How long will it take?
A . The entire process will take around a month. We get you in to have impressions taken of your teeth to have your whitening trays custom made. This will take around 2 weeks. We then fit you with your trays and give you your whitening gels to carry out the process at home. After 2 weeks, you then come back into practice to have a 45 minute in house whitening session – you must bring your trays with you. Your treatment is then complete.
Q. How long will it last?
A. Results can last indefinitely with some simple maintenance. Top up whitening gels are available for purchase in practice and have a long shelf life if kept in your fridge. To maintain your bright smile, it is suggested that you wear your trays once every month for the first year, then every other month there after. Tooth serum to help with sensitivty is also available for purchase.
Q . Is it safe?
A. Absolutely! The materials used for Enlighten Whitening have been used in dentistry for over 100 years.
